Lauds Deandra Dottin and Kashvee Gautam for their brilliant spells at the top and shares that they need to plan well for their next opponents in Delhi which is a crunch game for them.
Deepti Sharma, the skipper of the UP team is up for a chat. She says that it was a chasable score because the pitch was good to bat on but they lost back-to-back wickets. Adds that the top order needs to take the initiative as a similar thing happened in the last match for them. Shares that they want to focus on the partnerships and not repeat their mistakes in the coming games. Mentions that the batters need to take the game need and adds that they need to step up, including herself.
Time for the post-match presentation...
It was a perfect game for Gujarat who batted brilliantly and started exceptionally well with the ball. They removed the top order and took wickets at regular intervals to keep UP out of the game. Kashvee Gautam and Tanuja Kanwer took three each and were the pick of the bowlers for the visitors while Deandra Dottin and Ash Gardner also did a tidy job. Earlier in the day, Gujarat batted first and posted a massive score of 186/5 on the back of an unbeaten 96 from just 59 balls while Hardeen Deol and Deandra Dottin chipped in with handy knocks. Sophie Ecclestone with 2/34 was the pick of the bowlers for the UP side while Chinelle Henry also did a decent job. Gujarat will be delighted while UP will need to bounce back big to ahead from this stage.
Gujarat has handed an absolute hammering to the UP side, defeating them by a massive margin of 81 runs and moving to second place in the points table with a positive net run rate. Chasing a huge score of 187 for the win, UP got off to a poor start and were reeling at 48/6 at the halfway mark of their batting innings. Grace Harris, Chinelle Henry, and Sophie Ecclestone stuck a few lusty blows but it was an uphill task for the home side who never looked in the chase. UP are struggling at the bottom of the table and the road ahead looks a tough one for them.
