Zia ur Rehman picked in Afghanistan squad for Zimbabwe ODIs
Gulbadin Naib, who led the team in the 2019 World Cup, has been left out of the squad
Afghanistan have named 16-member squads for their away series against Zimbabwe and are set to compete in two white-ball formats, with the ODIs starting on June 4 followed by the T20Is on June 11.
Afghanistan have dropped Gulbadin Naib from the team after his poor form and drafted in Zia ur Rehman, the left-arm spinner in the squad for the fifty-over format.
The former skipper of the Afghanistan side managed to score only 36 runs in seven innings since 2021 and scalped three wickets, leading to his downfall,
On the other hand, Zia ur Rahman was impressive in the domestic circuit, picking up 14 wickets and has been rewarded for his consistent performances in the national tournament.
Meanwhile, Mujeeb ur Rahman, who is part of the ODI squad, will miss the T20I series, owing to his commitment with Middlesex in the T20 Blast.
