WPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Seal Second WPL Title, Heartbreak Continues For DC

MI sealed a nervy eight-run win against DC in the WPL 2025 final

Mumbai Indians asserted their dominance yet again against Delhi Capitals with an eight-run win in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final. After being put to bat first, MI were in a spot of bother at 14/2 before needing Harmanpreet Kaur to pull off a miracle.

Harmanpreet did not disappoint, with the Indian skipper smashing a 44-ball 66, hitting nine fours and two massive sixes, taking MI to 149/7 after 20 overs. For DC, Marizanne Kapp took 2/11 in the final.

But 149 was eight runs more than DC could get, and the three-time WPL finalists crumbled under pressure. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Jemimah Rodrigues’ had the chance to turn the game around on its head, but Amelia Kerr’s amazing return catch sort of ended DC’s hopes.

Even then, they managed to drag the game to the last over, thanks to Kapp’s 26-ball 40 and Niki Prasad’s 23-ball 25, but it wasn’t just enough. Unfortunately, it was the third consecutive final defeat for DC, the second-most in WT20s, only behind India’s four losses.

MI’s duo of Nat Sciver-Brunt and Kerr turned up brilliantly yet again, finishing as the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap winners.
