West Indies drop Shimron Hetmyer for remaining T20Is against England
Given the workload ahead of him, pacer Alzarri Joseph has been rested for the remainder of the series
West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer has been dropped from the squad for the remaining two T20 Internationals (T20I) against England. Hetmyer has not been in the best of form in the series, having contributed just 1 and 2 in the first two matches before being benched for the third game.
Even in the One-Day Internationals (ODI) before that, he managed managed 32, 0 and 12 in the three matches as West Indies went on to win the series 2-1. Johnson Charles, who last played a T20I in August earlier this year agianst India, has been named as Hetmyer's replacement.
Given the workload ahead of him, fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been rested for the remaining two games. Joseph is expected to be part of an all-format tour of Australia, beginning January 17, where West Indies will play two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is. Oshane Thomas has been recalled as his replacement for the remainder of the T20I series.
West Indies currently lead the five-match series 2-1, having picked up wins in the first two games in Barbados, followed by Grenada, before succumbing to a loss in the third game despite putting up 222 on the board.
The last two games of the series will be played at the Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad, on Tuesday (December 19) and Thursday (December 21).
