Mayank Rawat’s 78* off 39 followed by three wickets each from Simarjeet Singh and Rounak Waghela helped East Delhi Riders defeat South Delhi Superstarz by three runs and win the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League.
The Riders were 116/5 in 15.4 overs while batting first but that’s when Mayank went berserk and took his team to 183/5 in 20 overs. Batting at No.6, the right-hander smoked seven fours and six maximums. He even smashed Ayush Badoni for five sixes in the final over and that turned out to be the game-changer.
In response, Superstarz’s start batters Priyansh Arya and skipper Badoni could only score 13 runs between them but Tejasvi Dahiya smacked 68 off 42. Vision Panchal (9-ball 25) and Digvesh Rathi (16-ball 21*) tried their best in the final overs but ended up three runs short.
