WATCH: Ash Gardner Hammers Prema Rawat Out Of Attack
Gardner smashed 19 runs off the over, removing her from the attack
At 42/2, Gujarat Giants were in a bit of bother when Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Smriti Mandhana tossed the ball to rookie leg-spinner Prema Rawat. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Gujarat, with skipper Ash Gardner taking the fullest advantage of the inexperienced spinner.
The leg-spinner delivered a half-tracker as Gardner rocked back to pull that ball to the fine leg boundary for a four. Gardner didn’t spare the second gift of the over, smashing yet another four in the same region. That’s when skipper Mandhana came towards her to calm her nerves. However, that fell on deaf ears as Gardner next smashed a half-tracker for a six.
Across the first four deliveries, Gardner had smashed 18 runs, and had an opportunity to break the record of most runs in an over in WPL. However, Rawat made a strong comeback to finish the over with just one run in the remaining two deliveries.
