Virat Kohli Pips David Warner To Break Into Top 5 T20 Run-Getters

Virat Kohli broke into the top five T20 run-getters during his knock against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season opener at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Kohli needed 28 runs to go past David Warner in the list and achieved it without breaking a sweat.

Going into this match, Kohli had 12,886 runs to his name, with Warner on 12,913. Chasing 175 to win, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) got off to a superb start thanks to Phil Salt and Kohli, who brought up their fifty in just the fourth over. 

Warner will have a chance to reclaim his position when he turns up for Karachi Kings in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Earlier today, Kohli became just the third Indian player to notch up 400 T20 appearances. After electing to bowl first, RCB did well in restricting KKR to 174. 

They will next take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 28 (Friday) in Chennai.
