Suryakumar Yadav has undergone his second surgery in as many months - this time on his groin for his worsening sports hernia condition. Last month, he suffered an ankle injury during India's tour of South Africa, for which he had to undergo surgery.
"I want to thank everyone for their concerns and well wishes for my health, and I am happy to tell you all that I will be back very soon," he said in a post on X after the surgery.
The Indian T20 vice-captain, who led in the five-match series against Australia, had his ankle surgery in Bengaluru before flying to Munich for his second surgery. With the Indian Premier League still a couple of months away, Yadav can aim to return to action for Mumbai Indians during that time.
India called back Rohit Sharma from hibernation to lead the T20I squad against Afghanistan, but India are not slated to play any more T20Is before the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. So, the combination for the World Cup has become a difficult exercise to predict, but Yadav’s role in the event is going to be very crucial.
