Some pathetic umpiring was done: Harmanpreet Kaur

Shafali Verma, Amanjot Kaur, and Meghna Singh were given out in a controversial manner and didn’t even shy away from expressing their unhappiness on the field

Before the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, India had never lost to their Asian rivals in an ODI, but an inspiring effort from the home side meant the series ended in a 1-1 draw. In the final game of the series, India had a golden chance to secure the series, but one over of the game turned the game around, and the match eventually ended with the scores level.

There were multiple iterations in the match when umpiring decisions worked against the Indian team - Shafali Verma, Amanjot Kaur, and Meghna Singh were given out in a controversial manner and didn’t even shy away from expressing their unhappiness on the field. Harmanpreet Kaur later stated that the team were subject to some “pathetic umpiring” in the match and that they would be preparing accordingly the next time they will be playing in Bangladesh.

"A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised," Harmanpreet said in the post-match presentation. "The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we'll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly we'll have to prepare ourselves.

"They batted really well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those singles which were very crucial. In between we leaked a few runs but when we were batting, we controlled the game very well as I mentioned earlier some pathetic umpiring was done and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires."

Later, Harleen Deol, who seized the opportunity to bat in the top of the order with 77 runs of her own, provided India the right base to secure the bragging rights. Unfortunately, her dismissal brought a trail of wickets before Bangladesh closed the game with the scores level. But Deol added that it was a very good wicket to bat on.

“Actually it was a good wicket to bat on. Initially, we were struggling because we didn't know the conditions that well. We were ahead of the game and we got out and then the game turned. Today we lost an early wicket, so I went in to bat,” Deol later said.
