Scott Edwards joins unlucky club of batters in T20Is

The Netherlands captain became the fourth player in the history of T20Is to be dismissed on 99

On November 14, Scott Edwards joined an unlucky club of batters after he was dismissed on 99 against Oman in the second T20I at Al Amerat. Edwards became only the fourth player in T20I history to be dismissed on 99, following England’s Alex Hales, Denmark’s Hamid Shah and Saudi Arabia’s Abdul Waheed.

Batting first, the Netherlands were bolted back with the score reading 5/2 in no time. But from thereon, it was a one-man show for the Dutch side, as skipper Edwards put on a batting blockbuster, scoring 99 off just 55 deliveries. The right-hander picked up the gaps in the square and played all around the ground to score seven fours and five sixes.

Needing one run to complete his century, Edwards was dismissed caught and bowled by Sufyan Mehmood as the Netherlands finished with 185 runs on the board. Barring Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza, none of the Oman batters really put up any sort of score on the board, making life extremely difficult for them on the night.

As it turned out, Oman could only manage 135 runs in the run chase, falling short by 50 runs, as the Netherlands levelled the series 1-1.
