Roston Chase should definitely be in the playing XI: Daren Sammy

Ahead of West Indies’ clash against Bangladesh, Daren Sammy has backed Chase to be included in the playing XI

On the back of two painful losses, West Indies hopes of qualification to the next stage of the competition hangs in thin air. However, former Windies T20 World Cup-winning skipper Daren Sammy backs the team, stating that they are still in the semi-final race but will need a complete team effort.

Sammy also batted for the inclusion of Roston Chase, who was excellent in the recent edition of the Caribbean Premier League, both with the bat and the ball. The former skipper also suggested that the pep talk around the team should be how it is still possible to make a comeback even though their backs are against the wall.

“We are all disappointed as the World Cup has not started the way we wanted it to. It doesn't mean we are out. What we can control now is the way we go out and play. And as a captain I know I have to make some changes, Roston Chase would definitely come in,” Sammy said in the video posted by ICC.

“But I would remind them how great we are and how great we have been. And I would want them to look at the dressing room, Chris Gayle on his last way out and what he has done for the team. But it will take a total team effort. It's all in the talking, but it's the execution that matters. So we can still do it,” he added.
