Can CSK still qualify if they lose to RCB? And are LSG knocked out?

How has the DC-LSG result impacted the qualification chances of all sides?

Delhi Capitals (DC) have defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 19 runs. How has this impacted the qualification chances of all sides?

Delhi Capitals

Points accumulated – 14

Net Run Rate: -0.377

How can they qualify?

> SRH must lose both their remaining two games (vs GT & PBKS) by a very big margin (approx 100+ runs), which will bring down SRH's NRR (which is currently at +0.406) below DC's and ensure they're still on 14 points.

> RCB must lose their last game against CSK, which will not allow them to reach 14 points.

> LSG should either lose to MI or beat MI by only a relatively small margin.

> Should the aforementioned three things happen, then DC will go through as the fourth team.

Lucknow Super Giants

Points accumulated – 12

Remaining game(s) –  Mumbai Indians (A)

Maximum points they can get to: 14

Current Net Run Rate: -0.789

How can they qualify?

> LSG need to beat MI in their final game by a huge margin (approx. 100+ runs) in order to take their NRR ahead of DC.

> SRH must lose their remaining two games by a massive margin so that their NRR comes down below LSG's NRR.

> RCB must lose their last game against CSK which will not allow them to reach 14 points.

> Should all these aforementioned things happen, then LSG will qualify as the fourth team by virtue of having a better NRR than both SRH and DC.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Points accumulated – 14

Remaining games – Gujarat Titans (H), Punjab Kings (H)

Maximum points they can get to: 18

Current Net Run Rate - +0.406

How can they qualify?

> SRH's equation is very simple: they just need to win at least one of their two remaining games in order to make it to the playoffs.

> SRH can still qualify if they lose both their remaining games. For that, they'll need CSK to beat RCB and ensure both their own defeats are slim defeats, so that their NRR remains above both LSG and DC. In this case, SRH will qualify as the fourth team by virtue of NRR.

Chennai Super Kings

Points accumulated – 14

Maximum points they can get to: 16

Remaining games – Royal Challengers Bengaluru (A)

Current Net Run Rate: +0.528 (second-best NRR in IPL 2024)

How can they qualify?

> CSK will qualify for the playoffs if they win their final game against RCB.

> CSK will also qualify for the playoffs if their game against RCB is washed out since they'll get to 15 points and surpass both DC and LSG.

> If CSK lose by 18+ runs or RCB chase the target inside 18.1 overs, they can only qualify if SRH lose both their remaining games.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Points accumulated – 12

Remaining games –  Chennai Super Kings (H)

Maximum points they can get to: 14

Current Net Run Rate: +0.387

How can they qualify?

RCB must beat CSK by 18 runs or chase the target within 18.1 overs in order to go above Chennai in NRR and qualify for the playoffs at the fourth spot.

> If RCB beat CSK but fail to take their NRR above that of CSK, they will want SRH to lose both their games and lose it heavily enough for their NRR to go below RCB's.
