England have suffered a massive blow ahead of the third Ashes Test as Ollie Pope has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a shoulder injury.
The right-handed batter dislocated his right shoulder while fielding in the second Test at the Home of Cricket. While he walked into bat in the fourth innings, the 25-year-old underwent scans post the game.
The reports revealed the extent of the injury, and he will undergo surgery in the coming week. As a result, Pope will miss the rest of the summer and will continue his rehabilitation with England and Surrey Cricket's medical team.
The home team have not named any replacement in the squad, with Dan Lawrence set to replace Pope in the playing XI and slot in at number three.
England are currently two nil down in the five-match series and will aim to bounce back in the third Test slated to commence on Thursday, July 5, at Headingley in Leeds.
