Who have grabbed the headlines?
Rickelton Rampage
After a scintillating century against LA Knight Riders, the South African wicket keeper Ryan Rickelton continued his rich form posting the highest score of week two of MLC 2024 as he smashed another blistering 89 of 52 against the same opposition. With the two big knocks against LA Knight Riders, Rickelton, with 225 runs in 4 games, ranks number one in the highest run scorers list in MLC 2024
Travis takes on opponents head-on
Travis Head, who had a silent start to MLC 2024, came into groove after three failures. The swashbuckling left-handed opener scored back-to-back fifties, against LA Knight Riders and MI New York respectively, being a catalyst in two big wins for the undefeated table toppers, Washington Freedom.
Netravalkar continues his top T20 form
Saurabh Netravalkar has brought in the T20WC confidence into MLC 2024 as he has been fantastic for Washington Freedom. This week, he picked up 3/18 against Seattle Orcas and 4/35 against LA Knight Riders. With 12 wickets in the 4 games so far, the left-arm pacer stands on top of the highest wicket takers list in MLC 2024 currently.
Ferguson on fire for Freedom
Lockie Ferguson stepped up with the ball for Washington Freedom in week two as he picked 8 wickets in the three games, which included a match winning 4/26 against Seattle Orcas which earned him the Player of the Match award.
The duds (so far) from MLC 2024
Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine has had a horror run with the bat in MLC 2024. Opening the batting, the captain of LA Knight Riders has scored in single digits in all five games, accumulating a total of just 21 runs. With the ball, he has failed to pick wickets as has managed just three scalps in five games so far.
Trent Boult
Trent Boult started MLC 2024 with a three-fer against Seattle Orcas in the tournament opener. Post that, however, he has not been much impactful as he's conceded 40+ runs in the last two games while taking just two wickets. His inability to take wickets in the powerplay has resulted in teams scoring big against MI New York in MLC 2024.
Kieron Pollard
Kieron Pollard has had a tough time in the middle in MLC 2024. The MI New York captain has managed just 20 runs in four innings and has completely looked off colour. In the game against Texas Super Kings, he scored 5 of 17 while chasing a target 177. His disastrous innings made the target impossible to reach even as other batters such as Rashid Khan and Monank Patel tried their best.
