Mark Wood replaces Ollie Robinson in England XI for fifth Test

James Anderson is poised to play his fourth consecutive Tests of the tour

England have made one change to their playing XI for the fifth and final Test of the series, bringing in Mark Wood to replace Ollie Robinson in the side. With two proper pacers in the side, England would be hoping for their skipper Ben Stokes to finally have a crack with the ball at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, where pacers tend to do well.

Robinson faced a back issue in Ranchi and that impacted his pace massively, He bowled 13 overs for 54 runs and wasn't required to bowl in the second innings. However, he contributed with the bat, scoring 58 runs during a 102-run partnership with Joe Root.

James Anderson is poised to play his fourth consecutive Tests of the tour. After being kept out of the playing XI in Hyderabad, Anderson has managed to deliver some outstanding spells - even though some of them didn’t result in a lot of wickets - and has continued to be a huge part of the English dressing room.

A severely out-of-form Jonny Bairstow is also all set to play his 100th Test match of his career - an achievement previously held by 16 England players. Bairstow, who has 5974 runs in Test cricket for England, has managed just 170 runs across eight innings this series.

England Squad for fifth Test: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (c), Ben Foakes (wk), Tom Hartley, Mark Wood, Shoaib Bashir, James Anderson
