Kyle Jamieson suffers a new stress fracture; set to be out for a year

Jamieson’s stress fracture is on the same part of the back that he had surgery last year

Injuries continue to haunt New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson, who has now been ruled out for the entire year with a new stress fracture on his back. While the injury is on the same part of the back where he previously had surgery, he won’t go under the knife this time around.

"The last few days have been some of my most challenging but I am hugely grateful for the support I've received from my partner, family, teammates, support staff and medical professionals," Jamieson said in a statement.

"I know injuries are part of life as a cricketer and at my age I am hopeful I still have many more playing days ahead of me."

Over the last two years, Jamieson has repeatedly been haunted by injuries, all on his back. Back in 2022, Jamieson suffered the injury for the first time, and ever since, has had repeated occurrences of the same injury.

"We've all seen how much work Kyle has put into returning to international cricket and for him to have a setback like this is tough news to get," New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said. "On the positive side we know how determined he is to keep playing cricket for New Zealand and we will be fully behind him on the rehabilitation road ahead. His resolve is undiminished."
