Kirti Azad alleges corruption in DDCA after Rohan Jaitley gets re-elected as president

The former cricketer alleges that the DDCA spent just a fraction of the INR 140 crore allotted to them last year

Former cricketer Kirti Azad has slapped corruption allegations against the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) after Rohan Jaitley was re-elected as the cricketing board's president. Azad, who is currently with the Trinamool Congress (TMC), says that the DDCA used only a portion of the INR 140 crore it got from the BCCI last year.

Rohan, son of former DDCA president and politician Arun Jaitley, got 1577 votes against Azad, who managed to procure just 777 votes. The winning candidate required 1207 votes to win out of the 2413 votes cast. Rohan was first elected as the president of the board four years ago, and this is his third term at the helm.

Jaitley's team also walked away with all other posts within the organisation. Shikha Kumar will take over as the vice president after her victory, with Harish Singla and Amit Grover being elected as the treasurer and joint secretary, respectively.

Under Rohan's leadership, the Arun Jaitley Stadium hosted as many as five matches in the World Cup last year and also hosted the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), which featured stars like Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma, among others.
