Kane Williamson Becomes First To THIS Landmark For New Zealand
The former New Zealand skipper achieved this feat during the IC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final clash against South Africa
Kane Williamson becomes the first New Zealand batter to score 19,000 international runs. He achieved this feat during the second ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Most international runs for New Zealand
Kane Williamson 19,000*
Ross Taylor 18,199
Stephen Fleming 15,289
Brendon McCullum 14,676
Martin Guptill 13,463
Williamson was 27 runs away from the landmark heading into the game. Only two other players - Ross Taylor and Stephen Fleming - have gotten over 15,000 runs for the Black Caps across formats.
The 34-year-old is the leading wicket-taker in Tests with over 9,000 runs and is the fourth-highest run-getter in ODIs. He is just one of five players from his country to hit over 7,000 runs in the 50-over format.
Williamson went into the semi-final at the back of an 81 against India in Dubai. He has scored five scores in excess of 50 in his last 10 innings as well.
A win for New Zealand against South Africa will take them to the final, where they will face India in Dubai on March 9 (Sunday).
