India announce squad for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

India are in Group A along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead India’s 15-woman squad into the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, beginning October 3 in the United Arab Emirates. Alongside regulars Kaur, Smriti Mandhana (Vice-Captain), Jemimah Rodriguez and Richa Ghosh, newbies Sajana Sajeevan and Asha Sobhana have also been named in the squad.

Minu Mani and Kiran Navgire, who have continuously impressed in the shortest format, be it in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) or on India Women’s A tour of Australia, could not break into the side even as travelling reserves.

Yastika Bhatia and Shreyanka Patil, though named in the squad, will have to clear a fitness test to travel with the side to the Gulf nation. India are in Group A along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Raghavi Bist and Priya Mishra, who made outstanding contributions in the one-dayers and the lone first-class match in Australia, have been named as travelling reserves in the side. They might replace Bhatia and Patil if the latter are unable to get fit before the start of the tournament.
