ICC revise schedule for upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Bangladesh will take on Scotland in the opening game of the competition

On August 26 (Monday), the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the revised schedule for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in the Middle East. Earlier, it was confirmed that the ten-team competition will be hosted in two venues - Dubai and Sharjah - with 23 matches being played over 18 days.

Now, the ICC has revealed a revised schedule for the tournament. Bangladesh would take on Scotland in the opening game on October 3, followed by Pakistan taking on Sri Lanka on the same day. Australia’s first fixture will be on October 5, when they take on Sri Lanka before India and Pakistan clash on October 6.

India's clash against Pakistan will be in Dubai, while they will face defending champions Australia in Sharjah.

Group A includes six-time champions Australia, along with India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. Each team will compete in four group matches scheduled across the two venues. Both venues will have the added excitement of hosting three double-header matchdays each.

The first semi-final will be on October 17 in Dubai, followed by the second semi-final on October 18. If India quailfy for the knockouts, they will play semi-final 1, with the final on October 20.

Ten warm-up matches, all taking place at the Sevens Stadium and the ICC Academy grounds in Dubai from September 28 to October 1, will kick off the excitement. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will maintain its hosting rights while partnering with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to ensure the successful delivery of the event.
