Edward Moore added to South Africa's squad for New Zealand Tests

He becomes the eighth uncapped player in the squad, led by Neil Brand

South Africa have added opening batter Edward Moore to their squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand next month. His inclusion comes after Tony de Zorzi signed an SA20 deal with Durban's Super Giants.

Moore becomes the eighth uncapped player in the squad, led by Neil Brand, who himself will be making his debut. The 30-year-old, Moore has 7743 runs in 117 first-class games at an average of 40.96, studded with 17 tons and 42 fifties.

With SA20 clashing with this series, the Proteas had announced a weakened Test squad. Apart from the aforementioned two, Raynard van Tonder, Ruan de Swardt, Mihlali Mpongwana, Tshepo Moreki, Shaun von Berg and Clyde Fortuin are the other uncapped players in the squad.

The squad will depart for New Zealand on January 19 and the first Test will be played from February 4 in Mount Maunganui.

Squad: Neil Brand (c) David Bedingham, Ruan de Swardt, Clyde Fortuin, Zubayr Hamza, Tshepo Moreki, Mihlali Mpongwana, Duanne Olivier, Dane Paterson, Keegan Petersen, Dane Piedt, Raynard van Tonder, Shaun von Berg and Khaya Zondo.
