Ahead of the new season, the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has named Dinesh Mongia as their new head coach. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer JP Yadav has been named the U-23 head coach.
Mongia has represented the national team in 57 ODIs and 1 T20I and has experience as a coach, having served as Odisha’s head coach last year. Yadav will replace Swapnil Asnodkar in nurturing the young talents from the state, with the former Railways man having previous coaching experience.
According to Sportstar, the GCA has confirmed Arjun Tendulkar, KV Siddharth, and Rohan Kadam as its professional cricketers for the upcoming season. While Arjun and Siddharth were previously part of the state’s cricketing plans, Kadam has moved from Karnataka to Goa for green pastures.
Meanwhile, Rahul Tripathi, who played for Goa last year, will return to Maharashtra for the upcoming season. Elsewhere, Jiwanjot and Mandeep Singh will now play for Tripura following the departure of Wriddhiman Saha and Sudip Chatterjee, who have moved back to Bengal.
Mandeep, who led Punjab to a successful Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season, will now turn up for Tripura.
“We have received his application for NOC. It’s definitely a big loss for Punjab cricket, but if a player wants to move elsewhere for better prospects, why should we stop?” PCA president Amarjeet Singh Mehta told Sportstar.
