A calf strain has ruled out West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell from the remainder of the T20 international (T20I) series against England. The hosts are already 0-2 down in the five-match series, having succumbed to an eight-wicket loss in the first T20I and a seven-wicket defeat in the second game — both in Barbados.
The action for the remaining three matches now shifts to St Lucia, starting with the third T20I on November 14 (Thursday).
Meanwhile, in good news for the West Indies, fast bowler Alzarri Joseph returns to the side after serving his two-match suspension. Joseph was banned after he walked off the field without permission, angry at his skipper, Shai Hope, in the third One-Day International (ODI) against England.
Head coach Daren Sammy was unhappy with his pacer's behaviour, and Joseph has since issued a public apology. Joseph will replace Shamar Joseph in the squad, while all-rounder Shamar Springer comes in for Russell.
The Rovman Powell-led are just one more loss away from conceding the series.
West Indies T20I squad vs England: Rovman Powell (c), Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Terrance Hinds, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, Shamar Springer
