Kamran Akmal urges PCB to learn professionalism from BCCI

The former Pakistan cricketer played 53 Tests, 157 ODIs and 58 T20Is in international cricket

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for lack of professionalism and has asked the board to learn from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Akmal’s comments via his YouTube channel after India won the Chennai Test against Bangladesh by 280 runs. It is the same Bangladesh team that had recently clinched their first Test series win in Pakistan, beating the hosts 2-0.

"PCB should learn from BCCI, their professionalism, their team, selector, captain, and coaches. These are the things that make a team number one and dominate the world. If we were so good, then Pakistan cricket wouldn't be here. It is because of your ego Pakistan cricket is suffering," Kamran said on his YouTube channel.

Pakistan has been on a downward curve for a while. They were knocked out in the first round of the T20 World Cup 2024, courtesy of a Super Over defeat against the USA.

They were also underwhelming in the ODI World Cup last year, failing to reach the semi-final, after which Babar Azam was removed as captain. Pakistan then lost 0-3 in the Test series in Australia under the captaincy of Shan Masood. The T20I captaincy went to Shaheen Afridi, but Babar was later restored as captain in both white-ball formats.

With mediocre results on the field across formats, the PCB called for a day-long workshop on Monday (September 23), in which Masood, Babar were supposed to be in attendance alongside other core players of the team and the coaching staff.
