After IPL Snub, David Warner Appointed Captain Of Karachi Kings In PSL

Earlier this year, Warner led Sydney Thunder to the final of the Big Bash League

David Warner will have added responsibility on his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut as the retired Australia opener has been appointed the captain of Karachi Kings for the 2025 edition of the competition.

After going unsold at the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction, Warner got picked at the PSL draft by the Kings for $300,000. He takes over as Karachi captain from Shan Masood.

“Super excited to take on the role of Karachi captain this year,” Warner said in a video posted by the franchise.

“We’ve got a fantastic line-up. I’m looking forward to meeting you all when I arrive there,” he added.

A few months back, Warner’s leadership ban in Australia was lifted, after which he was named the captain of Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL). In his first season back as skipper, he led the Thunder to the final, where they fell short to Hobart Hurricanes.

PSL 2025 will overlap with IPL 2025; the new season will kick-start on April 11. Karachi Kings will begin their campaign against Multan Sultans on April 12 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
