Right then!! That is all from this remarkable test match. West Indies confidence will be on top of the moon going into the second Test but for now, that is all we have from this match. The second test match starts on 20th August 2021 at 10:00 am Local (3:00 pm GMT). Do join us for that. Till then, Goodbye and Cheers.

Kraigg Brathwaite says this match was remarkable and to come out victorious is really amazing. Goes onto say he thinks that Pakistan bowled really well but the patience, in the end, paid off. Mentions they have been working hard as a batting group and knew Pakistan will come hard at them, but his team managed to get over the line with all the hard work and patience.

Jayden Seales, Man of the Match. Says he is happy to get 5 wickets and to perform to the best of his abilities. Mentions that he stayed positive throughout and in the end that paid off. He praises his bowling coach to be patient with him and help him grow as a better cricketer. All the bowlers in the team supported him throughout. Mentions he only aimed to stick in the middle with Roach and it helped.

Babar Azam is up for a chat, he says, they had a good effort with the bat and when they got the momentum they lost quick wickets. In the second innings, they tried to put up runs but West Indies came out on top with their amazing performance. Mentions West Indies bowled really well and they tried to build partnerships but still fell a bit short. Adds that his bowlers bowled really well, especially Shaheen Afridi. Also says a few drop catches in the field cost them the game.

Kemar Roach, is up for a chat. He says he just backed himself and took on every ball as it came and they ended up winning the Test game. Goes onto say, he has been always a part of the tail, and to get the winning runs feels amazing. Mentions he expected the ball to come there and he was ready to hit the winning runs. Goes onto say Seales helped a lot in the middle and credits him to stick till the end.

...Stay tuned for the Presentation...

West Indies had a decent lead but Pakistan came back well with the bat. It was their skipper who played a good knock and he was well supported by Mohammad Rizwan and Faheem Ashraf. They collapsed at the start of Day 4 and they eventually gave a target of 168. Jayden Seales was brilliant with the ball for the hosts. He became the youngest bowler to pick up a 5-fer for West Indies and he was helped by Kemar Roach. In the end, it was a very good performance.

When West Indies came out to bat, it was Kraigg Brathwaite who led the team with the bat as he scored 97 and was the reason that they managed a lead. Jason Holder was the other batter who played a fine knock. Pakistan's bowling was good with Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Abbas being the pick of the bowlers. Faheem Ashraf too was decent.

Story of the match, After opting to bowl first, West Indies bowled superbly to bowl out Pakistan for just 217. Jayden  Seales and Kemar Roach were stars with the ball as they had 5 wickets among them. For Pakistan, Fawad Alam and Faheem Ashraf were the only ones who got going and if not for them, they would have finished with a very low score.

We have just witnessed a thriller and who told Test matches are boring? The Men in Maroon have gone 1-0 in the 2-game Test series. A hard-fought win for West Indies in the end! They were looking down and out at 114 for 7 but the lower order came to the party and took them home. This will be good for their confidence going forward and they have opened their account in the second cycle of the WTC. Earlier in the day, West Indies were 3 down for 16 runs.  Then it was a partnership between Roston Chase and Jermaine Blackwood that hold the game for the Windies. The former departed and the wickets started tumbling. Blackwood went on to score a half century but he too departed. Holder played a small cameo and went back. Joshua Da Silva and Kemar Roach stitched a partnership but Da Silva departed at the wrong time. It was then the Heroics of Roach that came into play. He was well supported by Warrican and Seales and they won.

AND BREATHE!!! Take a bow, Kemar Roach! He kept his nerves and did what no one believed. Credit to Jayden Seales also to hang in there with Roach. TEST MATCH AT ITS BEST.
