Right then, the last home game of the season and the Orange Army were treated to a memorable win by the Sunrisers. As for the Royals, they head into the playoffs with back-to-back defeats, and their confidence would have taken a hit. The Royals will need to regroup as they face MI Cape Town here in Gqeberha in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, 4th February. As for the Sunrisers, they will make the trip to Centurion to face the Joburg Super Kings in the Eliminator on Wednesday, 5th February. But we’re not done for the day just yet, as over in Johannesburg, Durban's Super Giants are gearing up to clash against the Joburg Super Kings. Our build-up is underway with the first ball to be bowled at 9 pm IST (3.30 pm GMT). See you there. Cheers!

Aiden Markram, the victorious skipper of Sunrisers Eastern Cape says that he is happy they got a good score on the board and the bowlers defended that. Mentions that the way Jordan Hermann played was a big positive. Adds that he is happy for him and says Stubbs also played that important knock in the end to give them a good finish. Mentions that they experimented with Jordan today and wanted to play a pure batter as they already have too many all-rounders and they were struggling with the bat this season. He says that he will see how the wicket is for the Eliminator and then will make strategies accordingly. Shares that the boys are doing well and they know what they have to do and he just tells them to do what they are best at. He thanks the crowd for the support.

The stand-in skipper of the Paarl Royals, Bjorn Fortuin says that it seemed like a fair chance to give the guys a game for those who have missed out earlier. Adds that it was a much-needed rest for all the other guys in the team. Informs about David Miller that he should be back in the camp tomorrow. Further mentions that they thought that they were quite good for most of the match and was pleased with the score on the board. Adds that it was a shame that they couldn't chase it. Adds that even though they lost early wickets, somebody had to step up and do it for the team. Mentions that they will do some reflection and come out better.

Jordan Hermann is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant fifty. He says that he was in a tough space early on since he did not get many opportunities. Adds that he had hoped to contribute for the team and he is happy now that he has done it. Mentions that he knew he would get a chance at some point as there were a lot of changes going around, especially venues-wise and he just wanted to cash in on every opportunity he got. He thanks his skipper for giving him a chance. Mentions that this is the best crowd in the country and thanks them for the support.

Time for the presentation ceremony...

Earlier in the game, after opting to bat first, the Sunrisers lost their two openers early, and Tom Abell couldn't make much of an impact either. However, Jordan Hermann stepped up and laid a solid foundation with his fifty. A lull followed Jordan's departure, with the Sunrisers going 50 balls without hitting a boundary. Tristan Stubbs struggled early on but eventually made up for it in the final over, helping his side reach 148.

A combination of excellent new ball bowling from Marco Jansen and Craig Overton, coupled with a not-so-great batting, saw the Royals slump to 22/5 inside the first 4 overs. As the field restrictions were lifted, an intent shift was evident from Rubin Hermann and Andile Phehlukwayo, as they looked to get the chase back on track. With two left-handers at the crease, Aiden Markram sensed an opportunity to bring himself on as the off-spinner, and that move worked like a charm. Andile fell to Aiden, leaving Hermann to shoulder the entire responsibility, all alone. A stunning grab from Craig Overton saw the back of Rubin, effectively sealing the fate of the Royals.

An emphatic victory for Sunrisers Eastern Cape to cap off their league stage campaign. A sell-out St. George’s Park crowd will head home with gleaming smiles on their faces. Aiden Markram and his men ensured they avenged the defeat they faced earlier in the season at the hands of the Royals. Even after the late flourish from Stubbs, it seemed the Sunrisers left a few runs out there, especially given they were 80/3 at the halfway mark. The Royals got off to the worst possible start in their chase.

Strategic break! A stunning catch, and in all likelihood, a match-sealing grab from Craig Overton has left the home crowd in awe. Sunrisers Eastern Cape are on course to end the league stage on a high and bid farewell to the home crowd in style. The writing is on the wall for the Royals, and aside from the fight shown by Rubin Hermann and Andile Phehlukwayo, it has been a disappointing batting performance, which you don't want with the playoffs looming. Eshan Malinga walks out to bat.
