Cricket fans all over the world have been treated to some enticing cricket tournaments. There has been non-stop cricketing action and to add to that, another exciting tournament has got underway, the Caribbean Premier League. The games of this event have been coming in thick and fast. We are already into match number 7 of the CPL, where St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be up against Guyana Amazon Warriors at Warner Park. The latter have begun their campaign on the wrong foot. They are coming into this game after suffering a defeat against Jamaica Tallawahs. They posted a par total of 142 on a sticky wicket, thanks to the late blitz by Romario Shepherd. While bowling they took the game till the last over but failed to get over the line. They have a quality batting line-up, but their openers, Paul Stirling and Chandrapaul Hemraj will have to put on a better show. Well, they have played just one game so far, and maybe it’s too early to talk about their form, but a good start from the top order is always needed. Their middle order though looks dangerous and we did see most of them play little cameos which took them over the 140-mark in their previous game. It is safe to say that they have one of the best spin attacks in this competition, with the likes of Tabraiz Shamsi, Imran Tahir, and Gudakesh Motie on their side. They all were impressive and will play a vital role once again. Only this time their pacers, Odean Smith and Romario Shepherd will have to be more disciplined. Guyana Amazon Warriors were not at their best in their opening match, but they did have a lot of positives to take from that game. This time they will be hoping to come out on top and grab those crucial points. The defending champions, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, on the other hand, have had a nightmare start. They began their title defense by losing their first two games. However, they managed to grab one point as their third game against Trinbago Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have failed to play as a unit in their previous encounters. They need to improve in all three departments of the game. In the two games that they have played so far, they have managed to grab only 5 wickets in total. The likes of Akila Dananjaya, Sheldon Cottrell, and Dwaine Pretorius will need to put on a better show. Their batters have misfired on both occasions as well. They do have enough firepower in their ranks but the batters are yet to find their rhythm. A piece of good news for them is that Evin Lewis who had missed the second game due to a niggle was back in the XI for their third game. Unfortunately, he did not get a chance to display his magic but he will be a part of their team against Guyana Amazon Warriors. Dwayne Bravo and his men will be eager to put on a match-winning performance and grab those two vital points. Which team do you think will register their first win? We will find out soon.
