Right then, that is it for this humdinger of a contest. The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2024 action continues as we have three games lined up on Friday, the 2nd of February. It will be the West Indies U19 vs. Australia U19, South Africa U19 vs. Sri Lanka U19, and India U19 vs. Nepal U19. All the games will begin at 1.30 pm IST (8 am GMT), but as you know, our buildup begins much sooner, so do join us for the same. Until then, take care, and cheers!

Winning captain Owen Gould talks about the game being really special one for him and team as this is their first win registered in this Tournament. He talks about the innings of Bahadar being exceptional under the circumstances and becoming a match winning one in the end. He ends by saying that the team and the officials have been brilliant with the boys and they have definitely learned alot from this tournament.

Alexander Volschenk, the skipper of Namibia Under-19, says that it was a wonderful game. He adds that the exposure they got was really interesting, and that is a takeaway from this tournament. He ends by thanking the crowd for supporting them and saying that the bonding with his side has improved on this journey.

Bahadar Esakhiel is the Player of the Match. He says that it felt really good as he had a good session yesterday and was feeling very confident in the middle. He adds that he was trying to rotate the strike at the start of the innings and in the end took charge. He ends by saying that when you plan something and it comes off perfectly you feel good about it.

Stay tuned for Presentations...

Earlier in the game, after early damage, Owen Gould and Jamie Dunk steadied the ship for a while. Once they fell, the flurry of runs showed down. Later, Bahadar Esakhiel showed resilience in his batting and helped Scotland Under-19 reach a commendable total of 251 runs. Peter-Daniel Blignaut was the standout bowler for Namibia Under-19.

Scotland Under-19 bowled well. They kept on bowling tight lines and lengths. They failed to pick timely wickets, though. Ibrahim Faisal picked up three wickets. Qasim Khan picked up two wickets for his side, while Adi Hegde chipped in with one.

With 252 runs to chase, Namibia Under-19 were off to a steady start and lost early wickets. Johannes Visagie and Zacheo Vuuren steadied the ship. It felt like they had the game under their control before Johannes Visagie fell in the 33rd over. Alexander Volschenk took charge then and played a good cameo of 32 runs, but after he fell, the flurry of runs slowed down for a bit. They fought till the very end but lost the game by a narrow margin of just 3 runs. Zacheo Vuuren had a remarkable inning but fell on the second last ball after scoring 86 off 119!

WOW! What a cracker of a game we have witnessed here at Willowmoore Park, Benoni! The momentum of the game shifted from one corner to another, and in the end, it was Scotland Under-19 who won the game by just 3 runs! Namibia Under-19 fought hard for the win till the very last ball but fell short by a few runs.
