Right then, Guyana Amazon Warriors have finally got over the line and managed to get their first win in this tournament. The action continues in the Caribbean Premier League as Jamaica Tallawahs take on Barbados Royals on Sunday, 11th September at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). Do join us early for the build-up. Till then, goodbye and cheers!

Faf du Plessis the skipper of Saint Lucia Kings says that they needed 180-190 on this wicket, and they could not get that which did cost them the game. Adds that they had that start, they did bat positively in the beginning but they lacked the intent towards the end. Mentions that Tabraiz Shamsi bowled well but they allowed them to get back in the game. Further says that this loss does hurt. Adds that they did really good things to get that opening partnership but could not capitalize.

Shimron Hetmyer the captain of Guyana Amazon Warriors, on being asked how he feels feel about this win. He says that he has never felt better, it was a collective performance from the team. The bowlers did well to restrict them to just over 160. Mentions that at one point the opposition was looking to get close to 200, but the bowlers bowled in the right areas, they stuck to their plan and it worked well for them. Concludes by saying that it feels good to win and they want to continue doing that.

Heinrich Klaasen is the Player of the Match. He says that he does not see it as a perfect day of cricket, but he is happy to get the first win. Adds that he is happy to put on such a performance and earn the respect of the people. Mentions that the conversation between him and Shimron Hetmyer was just to rotate well and get one boundary in every over.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

Earlier in the game, we saw Saint Lucia Kings get off to a blistering start, but they lost their way after the Powerplay. They were well on track to get to a target of 180 but fell a few runs short of that in end. Tabraiz Shamsi was the pick of the bowlers for Guyana Amazon Warriors as he ended with 2 wickets under his belt. In the end, the batters of Guyana Amazon Warriors chased down the target quite comfortably and helped their side get their first victory in this competition.

For Saint Lucia Kings, Jeavor Royal and Roston Chase bowled well but the others just weren’t up to the mark. The pacers were quite off today and leaked far too many runs. However, one believes, Saint Lucia Kings were at least 20 runs short with the bat. Had they got those runs, things could have been slightly different.

Guyana Amazon Warriors got off to a bright start! Chandrapaul Hemraj played some fine strokes in the initial few overs but he perished soon after that. his opening partner, Shai Hope followed him back to the hut soon after. Heinrich Klaasen and Shimron Hetmyer then put up a match-winning stand of 66 runs. Heinrich Klaasen was the mainstay with the bat and his knock of 61 proved to be the difference.

A comfortable vicotry for Guyana Amazon Warriors and they are off the mark in this tournament. That second half with the ball in the first innings won them the game. Saint Lucia Kings were all set to cross 180 but some decent bowling towards the end kept them to just over 160 and that was chased down easily.
