Right then, that's all we have for today. The action continues in the CPL, 2023. We have a doube header coming your way in a day's time. The Trinbago Knight Riders will take on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT) on 19th August in the first of the two games post which the home side Saint Lucia Kings will square off against the Guyana Amazon Warriors at 4.30 am IST (20th August) 11 pm GMT (19th August). But as you all know, you can join in early for the build up. Until then, take care and cheers!

Faf du Plessis, the skipper of Saint Lucia Kings says that the powerplay was their strength. Adds that they learnt a lot from the loss last night and that helped them tonight. Mentions that he wanted to use the swing early on rather than spin. Closes by sharing that the confidence is high and he appreciated their fielding effort out there from his team.

Rovman Powell, the skipper of Barbados Royals says that it was a tough game and they did not stick with plans while bowling and losing wickets in the powerplay while batting did not help either. Adds that other guys bowled well so they did not use Rahkeem Cornwall with the ball. Mentions that they lost the game in the powerplay but credits Nyeem Young for his effort and takes it as a positive thing for them. Closes by saying that they have a young side and will hope to get better in the next game.

Matthew Forde is the Player of the Match for his fine spell of 3 for 12 in his 3 overs. He shares that he used the conditions well for bowling his spell and hence this gave him massive swing. Adds that he has spent time out in Saint Lucia when he was young and it did help him. Closes by saying that he is happy with the win.

Time for Post Match Presentations...

Earlier in the day, Saint Lucia Kings made 201 for 6 after batting first on the back of quick-fire 40s from skipper Faf du Plessis and Sean Williams while Johnson Charles, Sikandar Raza, and Roshon Primus, all played handy cameos to take the home side to a huge total. Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers for Barbados Royals with figures of 4 for 38 while Qais Ahmad chipped in with 2. Saint Lucia Kings were dominant throughout the game and take two crucial points.

Matthew Forde ran havoc through the top order with 3 quick wickets in his opening spell and got the game in control. The rest of the bowlers chipped with one apiece and ended a empathic win in front of the their home crowd. Saint Lucia Kings win by a huge margin of 54 runs and get off the mark in the competition.

An emphatic win for the Saint Lucia Kings here as the Barbados Royals were completely outplayed and never looked in the chase. They lost half their side inside the powerplay and the top order was blown away. Donovon Ferreira with 19 off 12 looked good for a while but perished after the short cameo. Nyeem Young and Joshua Bishop stuck some lusty blows and added 29 for the 10th wicket. Nyeem Young played a valiant knock of 48 off 39 and took his side to a respectable 147 to reduce the margin of defeat.
