Right then, that is it from this game and now, 8 out of 10 teams have each played a game in the 2025 season so far. Next up, the two remaining teams, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings, take each other on at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, 25 March. That game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) but as usual, you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Till then, take care and goodbye!

Ashutosh Sharma is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his match-winning hand with the bat. He says that he has learned this from last year when he left two to three matches in the end and couldn’t finish them. So he wanted to finish the games for his team and played like this in domestic cricket also. Adds that he has full belief in himself and if he plays till the last ball, he will most likely finish the game for his team. He says that he just wants to be calm at the start of the inning and he wants to play those shots mostly, which he has practiced in the nets. States that he appreciates Vipraj Nigam for his brilliant innings and they both talked about chasing the target and being there till the end. He, in the end, dedicates this award to his mentor Shikhar Dhawan.

Axar Patel, the victorious skipper of Delhi Capitals jokes first up and says people have to get used to such games because he makes some tricky decisions as a captain. Adds that he has never seen a game turn back after so many wickets falling in the Powerplay. Mentions that after the Impact rule has come in, the bowlers get hit even after getting a wicket but it also presents a chance to take more wickets as the batters come harder. Talks about the total and says that the last 7 overs they bowled turned the momentum in their favour and they knew they could chase it down with so much depth in batting. Lauds the efforts Ashutosh Sharma puts in and says he is a special player to watch out for going ahead as well.

The Presentation ceremony...

Faf du Plessis is in for a chat now. He says this was an amazing game of cricket and defends the impact rule by saying when a game is dead and buried somebody comes out and changes it completely. Mentions that the ball was gripping and after losing 5 wickets, it all seemed far-fetched but the ability the Indian batters have to strike the ball is commendable to watch. Jokes about that single Mohit Sharma took and says it could be the best single of his career. Says with a new team, it's a new challenge and he looks at it as a new chapter and the last few pages are going to be with this team.

The skipper of Lucknow Super Giants, Rishabh Pant is down for a chat. He says that the 209 runs were enough on the board but the batters of DC batted really well, especially in the end. Adds that they lost the momentum in the death overs in the second inning. Mentions that they are still taking positives from this game and are willing to learn from their mistakes as they want to improve further. States that they knew that the wicket was good for batting and thus wanted to put on a good big total but the partnerships of DC batters were really good which has taken the game away from them. He thinks that the bowlers did well early on by picking up the five early wickets but the pressure was high and thus they lost their shape a bit. Concludes that luck plays a big part in this game but they want to play good cricket irrespective of completely relying on the luck factor.

Earlier in the game, Axar Patel won the toss and opted to field first given the dew a possible factor later in the game. However, LSG got off to a flying start thanks to former DC player Mitchell Marsh, who smashed the bowlers inside the Powerplay. Nicholas Pooran soon joined him at the crease and the duo just spat fire with eye-catching shots. The duo got 72 and 75 runs respectively and laid the platform for a big finale. The DC bowlers did well to come back into the game, led by Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Starc but still, they conceded 209 runs. In reply, DC shrugged off a dreadful start as the prowess of the Impact sub came into play with Ashutosh Sharma coming in and taking DC out of the abyss and on top of the world.

Lucknow Super Giants knew they left 15-20 runs out there with the bat but Shardul Thakur, who didn't have his kit ready until a day or so ago, got them the perfect start with a couple of wickets in the first over itself. The Impact sub, M Siddharth, made it 3 in quick time before the opposition finally managed to get a few boundaries away. The spinners rallied and did a fine job in the middle phase of the innings as well but the boundaries started to flow and a couple of stands brewed up for the opposition. Digvesh Singh showed great temperament as he got a couple of crucial wickets but the pacers just weren't in the game and Thakur, with a couple of overs up his sleeve, wasn't even used at the death.

Delhi Capitals ended the first innings well with the ball but those two sixes off the final ball just took some momentum away from them and then the two young stars in the form of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel threw away their wickets in the very first over of the chase. This brought all the pressure on Faf du Plessis, who lost another partner not too long after and skipper Axar Patel had to come in and counter-attack. Axar fell while in a purple patch and then the dismissal of Faf made things near impossible for DC. Tristan Stubbs stepped up and built a stand with Ashutosh Sharma before getting out at the wrong time. Just when all hope seemed lost, debutant Vipraj Nigam came in and whacked the ball to all places. Sharma too came into his own and once Nigam fell at the wrong time, Sharma showed yet another glimpse of his talent, reminiscing of his knock from last season while playing for PBKS against KKR and somehow, he managed to take them over the line.

ASHUTOSH SHARMA, REMEMBER THE NAME! Delhi Capitals have pulled off the unlikeliest of heists here and it is the former Punjab Kings man, Ashutosh Sharma, who has shown that ice runs in his veins and has broken the hearts of Lucknow Super Giants and their supporters in Visakhapatnam. We are only in Match 4 but surely, this will go down as one of the games of the 2025 IPL season.
