Right then, Brisbane Heat are now confirmed out of the competition but Melbourne Renegades haven't quite guaranteed a place in the finals and there are still 3 teams that can overtake them. Two of them, Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers are going head-to-head right about now in Perth and the winner could potentially get into that 4th place. You can switch tabs and check our coverage of that game. Cheers!
Jake Fraser-McGurk is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his sensational knock of 95. Jake says that he is just happy to get the win and tear it up in the final game and is very happy to contribute. Adds that cricket is a game where you feel terrible when you are unable to contribute and ends by applauding the fans for supporting them.
The Presentation ceremony...
Brisbane Heat will be gutted not to have been able to defend that total but it was just that sort of an evening where the batters just went hard at the bowlers and got their way. The Heat pacers started off decently but it was the spin attack that couldn't come to the fore and even after a double blow from Spencer Johnson in that crucial Power Surge, they couldn't take full advantage of it. Paul Walter gave them a glimmer of hope as he sent Jake Fraser-McGurk and Will Sutherland packing in the same over but it was just a bit too late.
Needing 197 for the win was difficult enough at the Marvel Stadium but Melbourne Renegades needed to do it in about 19 or so overs to take their net run rate above the rest. The Renegades did lose a couple of wickets early on but went hard at the bowlers and soon enough, they were out in front of the required rate. Then came the stand between Jake Fraser-McGurk and debutant Ollie Peake well over 80 runs and it was all bout Jake there. Peake departed but Jake went on to stay on for a long while as players around him kept on getting out. Jake fell too and it seemed a bit nervous at the death but Fergus O'Neill pulled off a fine cameo and got them the win in 18 overs.
What a game and the reigning champions, Brisbane Heat are out of the competition! One of the games of the season and Melbourne Renegades have pulled off a remarkable chase thanks to Jake Fraser-McGurk finally joining the party.

Xavier Bartlett to Fergus O'Neill ,FOUR! That's it, Fergus O'Neill has done it for Melbourne Renegades and they have snatched the fourth and final playoff place for now. Banged in a bit over middle, Fergus just steps out and backs away before pulling it flat and back past the bowler into the long on fence. THE RENEGADES WIN BY 3 WICKETS!

Xavier Bartlett to Fergus O'Neill ,SIX! BANG! What a hit from Fergus O'Neill and Brisbane Heat should be done and dusted now. Length ball from Xavier Bartlett at the stumps, Fergus O'Neill climbs into the shot and swings it away over deep mid-wicket for a biggie.

Paul Walter to Will Sutherland ,OUT! CAUGHT! Would you believe it? 'Tall Paul' aka Paul Walter has done it again and Brisbane Heat are alive and kicking now. Another off-paced delivery, bowled into the pitch and outside off. Sutherland moves across to the off side, leans back and pulls it flat but straight to Xavier Bartlett at deep mid-wicket and he makes no mistake. Melbourne Renegades are now 7 down and still need 15 runs for the win.

Paul Walter to Jake Fraser-McGurk ,OUT! TAKEN! Wow, what a catch from Matt Renshaw and for a moment, everyone in the stadium must have though that the ball would sail over. But unfortunately for Jake Fraser-McGurk, he has to depart for 95 and gets a standing ovation from the crowd. Paul Walter bowls it into the pitch and angles it across off, JFM moves to the off side and swats it straight down the ground. Renshaw moves across to his right from long off and leaps up to snatch the catch with both hands and slides down to avoid contact with the turf.

Paul Walter to Jake Fraser-McGurk ,A big swing and a miss! Another slower one, pitched up in the channel, JFM picks it up and looks to slog it away but misses.

Paul Walter to Jake Fraser-McGurk ,Jake Fraser-McGurk wants two and gets two! JFM is early to get across the off stump and Paul Walter digs in a slower ball wide outside off. Jake mistimes the pull back into the turf and over the bowler's head for a couple of runs.

Spencer Johnson to Will Sutherland ,FOUR! Lands just inside the ropes and Melbourne Renegades are just 18 runs away from victory with 4 overs remaining. Banged in short over leg, Sutherland hangs back and makes room before pulling it flat and to the right of deep mid-wicket for a boundary.

Spencer Johnson to Will Sutherland ,WIDE! Length ball, spilled down the leg side, Sutherland looks to whip it off the legs but fails to do so.

Spencer Johnson to Will Sutherland ,Half a shout for a caught behind but the umpire turns it down. Melbourne Renegades do opt for the review. This is bowled a bit short over middle, angling it in, Will Sutherland gets inside the line to pull but misses and the ball just clips the hips before going into the hands of the keeper. The third umpire checks snicko and it shows that the ball did just flick the jersey.

Spencer Johnson to Jake Fraser-McGurk ,What are you doing, Jake Fraser-McGurk? Short of a length, dabbed away to the man at short third and Will Sutherland calls Jake for a single. The ball goes straight to the fielder who yet again misses the direct hit at the bowler's end. Jake had given up there.

15.3
Spencer Johnson to Will Sutherland ,A good chase from Michael Neser but the batters do well to pick up three runs as well. Back of a length over middle, Will Sutherland leans back and pulls it down through the mid on region, not sweetly timed and it gets cut off before the ropes.

Spencer Johnson to Jake Fraser-McGurk ,Oh, that's a risky and unnecessary single when you need less than run-a-ball. Pitched up around off, Jake Fraser-McGurk squirts it away on the bounce to backward point and sets off for the single. They set off for the single and Max Bryant misses the shy at the bowler's end as Jake dives in to safety.

Spencer Johnson to Jake Fraser-McGurk ,Slightly back of a length, angling across off and a bit slower too, JFM moves across a bit and just times it away to the left of deep point for a brace. Moves into the 90s now does Jake.

Michael Neser to Harry Dixon ,OUT! CAUGHT! FIFTH DOWN FOR THE RENEGADES! Can the Brisbane Heat come back into the game now? Michael Neser takes his second wicket as he bangs in a short ball, outside off, from over the wicket, going away from the batter. Harry Dixon looks to pull it off the back foot but the ball gets big on him and he doesn't get the elevation that he is looking for because of the extra bounce. The ball goes in the air towards cow corner where Matt Renshaw runs to his left from long on and takes a simple catch with both hands.

Michael Neser to Jake Fraser-McGurk ,A low full toss, outside off, JFM pushes it by the full face of the bat towards deep cover for a single.
