Right then, it turned out to be a lop-sided affair with the Melbourne Renegades putting on an absolute clinic to secure their first win of the season. It was a night the Hobart Hurricanes would quickly want to forget. The action continues in the 2024-25 Big Bash League on 20th December, Friday, as the Adelaide Strikers lock horns with the Melbourne Stars at the Adelaide Oval. The first ball will be bowled at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT), but you can join us earlier for the build-up. See you then! Cheers!

Tom Rogers is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliance with the ball. He says they weren't that happy with the performance in the previous game and worked harder to get things right this time around as a bowling unit. Mentions that they hit the right areas and a bit of luck helped them put up the performance they did. Closes by saying he is yet to tick that box of hat-trick takers in the tournament but he'd love to have it someday.

Time for the presentation ceremony...

After a disappointing batting performance, the Hurricanes were left to salvage whatever they could with the ball. There was a distinct lack of fight from their batters, and the disciplined bowling from the Renegades kept the wickets tumbling at regular intervals. Nathan Ellis did show some resistance with the bat but apart from that, there was nothing to write home about as the Hurricanes were folded for 74, their lowest total in the history of the competition. For the Renegades, Tom Rogers and Fergus O'Neill did the early damage, taking 3 wickets each before the clean-up job was completed by Will Sutherland and Adam Zampa.

A resounding win for the Renegades to secure their first points of the season. The foundation of their victory was laid by their brilliant bowling unit, which skittled the Hurricanes for just 74. From there, it was all about how quickly they could complete the chase to boost their net run rate, an important factor as the tournament progresses. Tim Seifert got going straight away, delivering the home side a flying start. With 51 runs on the board in just 4 overs, it seemed like the chase would be wrapped up quickly. However, Nathan Ellis bowled his heart out to delay the inevitable, but the Renegades crossed the line with 11 overs to spare.
