Right then, that's all from this game. The Big Bash League 2022-23 action continues on Tuesday, 20th December as Adelaide Strikers take on Sydney Thunder and that game will begin at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT). Do join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!

Patrick Dooley is the Player of the Match for his match-winning spell of 4 for 16 from his four overs. He says that it is a fantastic atmosphere and the guys put up a good show. Adds that it was some effort but it's the nature of T20 cricket and he will give his best in the upcoming games. Ends by saying that it is an excellent feeling of winning this award.

Earlier in the game, having opted to bat first, Hobart Hurricanes lost Ben McDermott on the very first ball of the game. Despite the loss, Matthew Wade got going straightaway and stroked a blazing fifty. After his departure, Shadab Khan joined D'Arcy Short in the middle and kept the scoreboard ticking. However, once this partnership was broken Hobart Hurricanes lost their way and were reduced to 136-7. Tim David's 46-run cameo bailed them out of trouble and helped them post a challenging total on the board. The batters were well supported by the bowlers that helped Hobart Hurricanes to successfully defend the total.

In their pursuit of 173, Perth Scorchers were off to a flying start courtesy of an onslaught by Faf du Plessis. However, he was dismissed soon and was followed back into the hut by Adam Lyth and Nick Hobson. Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner stitched a 75-run stand to resurrect the innings and brought the game under their control. With just run a ball needed, all they needed was to bat sensibly but in their quest to keep the runs flowing, Perth Scorchers lost way too many wickets and were behind the eight ball against the run of play. In the end, Perth Scorchers fell short of the target by 8 runs.

Hobart Hurricanes are off the mark in BBL 12. Spinners put on a show and complete the job for them to secure their first victory in the competition. While defending the total, Hobart Hurricanes were ordinary with the ball early in the innings. They did claw their way back into the game with some quick wickets towards the end of the Powerplay. With Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner out in the middle for Perth Scorchers, Hobart Hurricanes failed to keep them quiet and conceded a lot of runs. After Riley Meredith dismissed Ashton Turner, there was no looking back and Hobart Hurricanes continued to pile pressure on the opposition batters. Some fine bowling towards the end helped Matthew Wade and co. defend the total. Patrick Dooley was the star with the ball with figures of 4 for 16 while Riley Meredith took two wickets and Shadab Khan and Nathan Ellis chipped in with a wicket each.
