Right then, that is it from this contest and MI Emirates are back in the mix for those coveted top two spots and just edge ahead into the 2nd spot in terms of a better net run rate. But Dubai Capitals, in 3rd will have a chance to go past them very soon. Next up, it is Match 23 between Dubai Capitals and Sharjah Warriorz to be played on Tuesday, 28 January in Dubai. That game will begin at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT) but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Cheers!

Tom Banton is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his stellar century. He says that he didn't got off to a flier but knew the longer he stayed at the crease, the more chances he would get to free his arms and took that opportunity. Mentions that being a top order batter in white ball cricket, you need good technique and the white Kookaburra ball has also started swinging a bit in recent times, so you need to be watchful. Adds that they were under a bit of pressure coming on the back of a couple of losses and it was a special night for them but don't want to take things for granted.

MI Emirates skipper, Nicholas Pooran says that it was very pleasing to see the way they batted as the last couple of games were tough for them and they executed the plans well. Goes on to give credit to the way Banton and Fletcher batted. On benching, Akeal Hosein he says that it is tough to leave someone like him out but Akeal is a team player and it was about horses for courses and they just wanted to win tonight.

Sam Curran, the stand-in captain of Desert Vipers says that it was a tough night that they want to forget and it's time to move on. Adds that things can happen quickly in T20 cricket and once they dropped those catches, the opposition batters punished them. Adds that it is a quick tournament and it's all about forgetting, learning and moving on. Goes on to say that both Banton and Fletcher batted well and it was just out of their reach.

The Presentation ceremony...

Desert Vipers had just 1 loss in their 7 games leading up to this contest and were favorites to begin with but they have been handed a thumping here. They just narrowly avoided their own unwarranted record of the biggest loss in terms of runs in the ILT20 which was 157 runs against the same opposition in the first edition of the tournament as they lost by 154 runs tonight and barring a couple of individuals, no one even got into double figures. A lot rode on the likes of Alex Hales and Fakhar Zaman but once they were both dismissed early on, it was like a procession and they folded without much of a fight.

MI Emirates already had the runs on the board and just needed a few wickets in the Powerplay to get into the driver's seat but they got that and much more. It was Muhammad Rohid who started the series of taking wickets in the second over of the chase and then the likes of Alzarri Joseph and Fazalhaq Farooqi followed suit. They had the opposition 32/5 inside the first 6 overs and after that, it was just a matter of time before the tailenders came in and MI Emirates were able to clean them up as well. That trio of pacers picked up 8 wickets between them and Dan Mousley picked up the remaining two in the only over he bowled.

Wow, what a way to bounce back for the reigning champions MI Emirates and they have lighted up the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, first with the bat and now with the ball as well. To score in excess of 220 runs and then bundle out the opposition for just 74 runs, is some performance and surprising all 10 wickets that fell in the chase were catches, very rare to see that happen.
