The trophy is handed over to Rovman Powell and all the players of Jamaica Tallawahs join him to celebrate this outstanding moment. That's all we have from this edition of the Caribbean Premier League. Despite all the rain around, we witnessed some quality action and this season, like the other ones, was very entertaining. It's time to sign off now. We look forward to your company in future. Cheers!
Rovman Powell, the victorious skipper of Jamaica Tallawahs, says that adjectives are inadequate to describe his feelings. Adds that the backroom staff played their part and praises all the boys in the squad who were an integral part of his leadership. Tells that the boys were very hungry to win and everything just went right. Mentions that they decided to hang in there with the ball and knew that they have the batters to chase down the total. Talks about Brandon King's hundred which went in a losing cause and hurt the team, and also praises Shamarh Brooks' ton in the knockout. Further says that they took disrespect as motivation. Shares that it's a step in the right direction and he wants to keep learning as a captain. Gives a special thanks to the Guyanese supporters who supported them and also thanks the fans in Jamaica.
Kyle Mayers, the captain of Barbados Royals, says that it's a hard pill to swallow and they did well, only lost three games and gives credit to the opposition. Adds that they were 20 runs short and needed to get to 180 in order to have a better chance. Mentions that the conditions also played a role as the ball got wet and even Mujeeb had a bad day but kudos to Jamaica. Also adds that the last couple of seasons were bad for them and this has been a massive turnaround and hopes they can go all the way in the next season.
Brandon King bags the Player of the Tournament award for scoring 422 runs! Says that he set goals for himself and is happy to achieve all of them. Tells that he felt in good touch and made use of his form. Adds that the boys trust each other. Thanks the management for showing faith in him. States that you just need to work hard and believe in your ability. Shares that they stuck together as a team in the highs and the lows.

Adds that they had a meeting that if they're in control till the 10th over, they would have a big chance and they did end up winning. Ends by thanking the people back home in Jamaica for their love and support.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Mohammad Amir comes up next. The speedster says that he is happy that the result has come in their favour. Calls it a team effort. Plenty of quick interviews pouring in...
Earlier in the game, Kyle Mayers won the toss and opted to bat first in the final. This seemed to be the correct decision as Mayers and his opening partner Rahkeem Cornwall directly went into 6th gear inside the Powerplay. However, both of them got out in quick succession after which the Royals' innings never got any sort of momentum. Fabian Allen was instrumental for Jamaica Tallawahs in derailing the Royals' batting as he picked up three wickets and Nicholson Gordon too finished up proceedings well with the ball with three wickets. With 162 needed to win the trophy and the conditions impeccable for batting, all Jamaica needed was one big partnership and they got just that as they went on to win the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League in style. Let's now get a few reactions from the players and coaching staff...
Barbados Royals had the runs on the board, maybe not as much as they would have liked but 161 was still defendable. Given their bowling prowess as well, one would have expected a lot more but they succumbed under the pressure and the dew factor certainly didn't help them either. The skipper, Kyle Mayers gave his side the start they required but no one followed him up. They were able to keep a check on the flow of runs but when you don't take wickets, sooner rather than later, the batters will chance their arms. The Royals end an amazing campaign with a disappointing loss but they will still be proud of their effort on the whole.
Runs on the board always matter in a final and when you lose a wicket in the very first over, the chase becomes all that more difficult. But the Tallawahs remained unfazed and it was the stand between Shamarh Brooks and Brandon King worth 86 runs that put them in the driving seat. Brooks fell just short of a half-century but King just went on another level as he smashed the ball to all parts of the park and remained unbeaten on 83 runs. Skipper, Rovman Powell gave him ample support and they just breezed through the run chase.
Absolute scenes of joy in the Tallawahs camp! What a run chase this has been from Jamaica Tallawahs and they are the Caribbean Premier League champions for the third time. They have completely bossed the best side in the competition and have beaten them at their own game. Take a bow!
