On August 14 (Wednesday), Northamptonshire confirmed that Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be part of the setup for their final white-ball clash against Kent and will also play five County Championship fixtures in the season.
Previously, Chahal was part of Kent’s setup, where he picked up nine wickets in two games. Despite being one of the premier spinners in the country, the 34-year-old has been largely ignored across white-ball formats in the national setup.
However, Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler insisted that the leggie will add much-needed variety to the squad.
"Yuzvendra is another high-profile overseas player who brings with him a wealth of experience and some incredible skills. His record speaks for itself and his wicket-taking ability will add strength to our attack,” Sadler said.
Interestingly, Chahal’s last first-class game also came in England, where he picked up four wickets against Lancashire representing Kent.
