Yuvraj, Tendulkar, other heroes of 2011 World Cup triumph remember the historic day
After a gap of 28 years, India lifted the World Cup aloft on this day in 2011 at the Wankhede Stadium
It has been 10 years since India lifted the World Cup in front of a jam-packed Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India pipped Sri Lanka by six wickets, and it was skipper MS Dhoni, who smashed the ball over the fence to hand India the trophy after a span of 28 years. Yuvraj Singh the player of the tournament for scoring 363 runs at 90.50 and with the ball, he picked up 15 wickets at an economy rate of a little over five.

The man who was calling the action from the commentary box, Ravi Shastri too remembers the day. If many remember Dhoniโs six off Nuwan Kulasekara in the end, the moment was made iconic with Shastri commentating the moment, which will forever be etched in the mind of every Indian, who witnessed history being created on April 2, 2011. Shastri continues to be associated with Indian cricket, currently discharging his duties as the coach of the national side.

It was Sachin Tendulkarโs final World Cup game and what better way walk off than a wWorld Cup medal around your neck. While remembering the day, the Little Master also announced that he was hospitalised โ a week after testing positive for Covid-19.
