Wet outfield delays toss & start in Kanpur | India vs Bangladesh

It did not rain in the one hour in the lead-up to the toss but wet patches in the outfield have forced the officials to delay the start

Bad weather has expectedly played spoilsport as heavy overnight rains have delayed the start of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

Toss was expected to take place at 9:00 AM IST, with the first ball being bowled at 9:30 AM IST. It did not rain in the one hour in the lead-up to the toss but wet patches in the outfield have forced the officials to delay the start.

An inspection has been scheduled for 9:30 AM IST, after which the officials will take a call.

The forecast does not look for the first three days of the Test. It’s expected to rain throughout the day today (Day 1), and showers are also expected on both Day 2 & Day 3.

India, who are gunning to make the World Test Championship (WTC) final, will be hoping for rain to not play spoilsport. They’ve already had one game rained off in this cycle, the second Test against West Indies in Trinidad last year.
