#1 Darren Bravo, 2011
Making his debut in 2011 in Delhi, Ravichandran Ashwin beat Darren Bravo's defences to claim his first Test wicket. Bravo looked to cut but missed the ball completely, and the ball crashed into the stumps.
That was the first of his nine wickets in the match, a feat that won him the Player of the Match as well.
#100 Darren Sammy, 2013
Playing in Sachin Tendulkar's farewell Test, Ashwin achieved a bit of a milestone, becoming the fastest Indian to 100 Test wickets. He got there in 18 matches, two quicker than EAS Prasanna.
His victim: The West Indies skipper Daren Sammy, who played a wild slog, only to be caught easily by Rohit Sharma.
#200 Kane Williamson, 2016
Going into the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur in 2016, Ashwin was seven scalps away from his 200th scalp. And that came in the second innings when he removed Kane Williamson for the second time in the match to become the then-second fastest to the milestone.
The Blackcaps skipper was caught on the crease and was rapped on the pads while he was on the back foot.
#300 Lahiru Gamage, 2017
Sri Lanka Tailender Lahiru Gamage had no clue what struck him as he was cleaned up by a superb carrom ball that pitched on leg and knocked over off stump. He got to his 300th wicket in just 54 matches - the fastest in Test history.
#400 Jofra Archer, 2021
Jofra Archer is not known for his batting skills and that clearly showed as he was pinned in front by Ashwin, who claimed his 400th wicket in the third Test against Ahmedabad in 2021. Archer reviewed it, but the hawkeye showed that the ball would crashed onto middle stump. Ashwin got to the milestone in 77 Tests, the second fastest after Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan (72).
#500 Zak Crawley, 2024
When in trouble, sweep, right? That's what Zak Crawley tried to do to get Ashwin away, and like many batters, he top-edged to the fielder in the infield, allowing Ashwin to claim his 500th scalp in the third Test in Rajkot earlier this year.
He got to the landmark in his 98th Test, once again, second fastest behind Muralitharan.
#537 Mitchell Marsh, 2024
When he got the wicket of Mitchell Marsh in Adelaide earlier in the series, no one could have predicted that it would be his final scalp in international cricket.
Here's a fun fact: Marsh really didn't edge it to the wicketkeeper, but after the ball passed his bat, he walked. An early retirement for Ash, perhaps?
