Western Australia collapse from 52/2 to 53 all out in One-Day Cup

Beau Webster picked up six wickets, while Billy Stanlake chipped in with three

It was a day to forget for Western Australia (WA) on October 25 (Friday) as Tasmania fast bowler Beau Webster snapped six wickets to trigger a collapse that saw the opposition getting bowled out for 53 in 20.1 overs after they were 52/2 three balls into the 16th over in Match 10 of the One-Day Cup at the WACA, Perth.

The Tasmania bowler eventually finished with figures of 6/17, accounting for the wickets for D'Arcy Short (22), Cameron Bancroft (14), Ashton Turner (0), Cooper Connolly (0), Jhye Richardson (0) and Joel Paris (0). Billy Stanlake picked up 3/12, while Tom Rogers picked up the other wicket to fall.

It was Tasmania who had won the toss and opted to bowl first in the opening round of the Marsh One-Day Cup. As many as six batters were dismissed for a duck, while only two WA batters managed to get into double figures. The innings had a total of four partnerships who got at least a run, with the 35-run stand between Bancroft and Short being the highest. WA lost their last eight wickets, scoring just one run (extra) in a span of 28 deliveries.

Tasmania went on to win the match by seven wickets in just 8.3 overs. In fact, WA are the defending champions, having beaten New South (NSW) by five wickets in the final in Sydney last year.
