We played the brand of cricket we usually play: Ravi Bishnoi

India slipped to a shock 13-run defeat in the first T20I, but bounced back emphatically in the second game

India’s Ravi Bishnoi admitted that the Men in Blue’s performance was not up to their usual standard in the first T20I against Zimbabwe, but was pleased that, in the second T20I on July 7 (Sunday), the reigning champions roared back and produced a performance worthy of their reputation.

India slipped to a shock 13-run defeat in the first T20I on July 6 (Saturday), getting bowled out for 102 after being set 116 to chase.

But the visitors bounced back emphatically in the second T20I, batting first and posting 234/2 before bowling out Zimbabwe for 134 to register a 100-run victory.

“Was a disappointing performance yesterday. Happy that we played well today, this is the kind of cricket we usually play. I am satisfied with the win,” Bishnoi said after the second T20I.

At a personal level, this has been a very successful series for Bishnoi so far. The 23-year-old, who missed out on T20WC selection, returned figures of 4/13 in the first T20I and then 2/11 in the second game.

The leggie revealed that he used the skid on the surface to his advantage.

“I want to contribute towards a win for the team, so today's two wickets were better than yesterday's four,” he said.

“There was no turn but it was skidding, batters didn't have time and were getting hurried.”

It’s been less than 10 days since India’s triumph in the T20WC in the Caribbean, but the Men in Blue have already played twice since then.

Has the ongoing series brought the celebrations to a halt? Not really, according to Bishnoi.

“World Cup celebrations are going on, as they should, since it's been a long wait, that'll continue,” the youngster said.

The 3rd T20I will be played on July 10 (Wednesday) at the same venue, the Harare Sports Club.
