We are professionals, we don't complain: Russell responds to Wiese

The KKR all-rounder was quick to hit back after his team's head coach had come under attack recently

David Wiese who represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, termed Chandrakant Pandit a "militant" type of coach due to his strictness.

“Sometimes in franchise cricket, when you have overseas guys, who’ve played all over the world, they don’t need anyone coming and telling them how they need to behave, what they need to wear and what they need to do the whole time.

"So, that was tough,” said Wiese on the podcast ‘Hitman for Hire: A year in the life of a franchise cricketer’

Responding to that, all-rounder Andre Russell, who has been with the franchise since 2014, has backed his coach, saying that Pandit is doing an amazing job at KKR.

“We’ve been working with him from last year. I think when you're working with a coach for the first time, you have to make sure that you adjust to their philosophy. There have to be rules. We are professionals. So, we don't complain,” Russell said ahead of KKR's clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 29 (Friday).

“I try to do the best for this franchise. He's been doing an amazing job, and we've gotten coming back as well,” he added.

KKR eked out a four-run win on their first game of the campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Kolkata on March 23 (Saturday). Russell starred with both bat and ball bludgeoning an unbeaten 64 off 25 before chipping in with a couple of wickets. He will hope to repeat his heroics against an RCB unit, who are coming at the back off an impressive victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS).
