Watch: Shubman Gill’s brain fade leaves his stumps rattled

The India A skipper got dismissed for just 25 at the brink of the Tea interval

Shubman Gill’s Duleep Trophy hasn’t begun on the right note. After reducing India B to 94/7, India A couldn’t bowl with the same intensity and allowed Musheer Khan and Navdeep Saini to notch up the highest eight-wicket partnership in Duleep Trophy history, with the duo scoring 205.

After being in the field for 116 overs, Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal began solidly and brought up a fifty partnership for the first wicket. However, Gill suffered a brain fade soon after that and was dismissed by Saini.

Saini bowled the delivery outside the off stump, and Gill didn’t anticipate the inwards movement after the ball pitched. The ball fell on the seam and jagged in sharply to disturb the timber. Gill left the ball and was shocked to see his woodwork shattered.

India A would rue the dismissal even more, as it came right on the brink of the Tea break on Day 2.

Saini, meanwhile, continued to enjoy a splendid day on the field after he also notched up his highest first-class score in the game, removing Mayank Agarwal as well. Two wickets in no time, Saini was showing why he is still in the scheme of things at the Duleep Trophy.
