Watch: Rahul Tewatia's Short Stay At The Crease Comes To A Comical End

The batter was run out for a duck at the non-striker's end without facing a single delivery

Rahul Tewatia was run out at the non-striker's end without facing a ball, thanks to a pinpoint throw from Hardik Pandya at mid-on during the Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Gujarat Titans (GT) clash in Ahmedabad on March 29 (Saturday). However, that is not the story here.

Tewatia was convinced he did not make the crease, but Sherfane Rutherford, at the other end, was looking to pinch a single and ran towards Tewatia. At one point, the two were right next to each other.

Rutherford then had to scamper back to the striker's end to save his wicket. Luckily for the West Indies batter, the throw did not come at his end. However, it would not have mattered as Tewatia was short of his ground at the non-striker's end.

In the end, GT managed 196/8, riding on Sai Sudharsan's 63. Shubman Gill (38) and Jos Buttler (39) too made valuable contributions to push the score to close to 200.

For MI, skipper Pandya led from the front with the ball, finishing with 2/29, which included getting his counterpart Gill for the fourth time in IPL

Both sides lost their respective first games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. While GT lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS), MI suffered the same fate against Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
