Nys Lagos’ Najibullah Zadran made headlines during the Zim Afro T10 2024 match against Durban Wolves by smashing Donald Tiripano for 33 runs in an over.
The left-handed batter from Afghanistan took the attack to Zimbabwe’s Tiripano in the sixth over of the first innings. Zadran started the over with three consecutive maximums before hitting towards extra cover for a couple of runs.
The fifth ball of the over also went for a six over deep square leg. Tiripano followed it up with three wides before finishing the over with a four. Zadran hit a total of four sixes and a four in that over.
Zadran got out to Muhammad Rohid Khan in the next over but only after a quickfire 43 off 17 balls. “I had just scored 6 runs in seven balls before that over. So, I told (Ryan) Burl that I’m going to push the paddle in this over,” he said after the game.
“Also, I have faced Tiripano earlier as well and I have an idea about his variations. So, my idea was simple, just watch the ball and hit the ball. Unfortunately, I got out before the third powerplay but really happy that we eventually won the match.”
Thanks to Zadran, Nys Lagos scored 134/5 in their 10 overs. In reply, Sharjeel Khan smashed 59 off 30, but the Wolves still fell short by 10 runs.
