In a rain-curtailed game in Bengaluru, Mysore Warriors squeezed through to a seven-run victory (VJD method) over Shivamogga Lions in Match 2 of the Maharaja Trophy T20 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on August 15 (Thursday). The victory came thanks to some power-hitting in the end by Manoj Bhandage (42* off 16), which included as many as four sixes.
Mysore were struggling at 104/8 in the 17th over, but Bhandage and Kishan Bedare (12* off 8) got together and stitched an unbeaten 55-run stand for the ninth wicket that gave the side something to work with. Hardik Raj, Pradeep T and Avinash D picked up two wickets apiece for the Lions.
However, despite an unbeaten 52 off 29 by Abhinav Manohar, the Lions fell short after rain came crashing down at the end of the ninth over. Nihal Ullal, S Shivaraj and Bharath Dhuri were all dismissed for a duck, which made matters worse for the Lions. Jagadeesha Suchith was the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors, finishing with 2/15 from his two overs.
Lions will hope to put this loss behind them when they take on Mangalore Dragons next on August 17 (Saturday). The Warriors, on the other hand, face Bengaluru Blasters at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on August 16 (Friday).
