It’s been a horror start to the 2024 Caribbean Premier League for new franchise Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, who on September 1 (Sunday) suffered their third straight defeat of the season.
But while the first two defeats were close ones, the Falcons were blown away in the contest on Sunday by the Barbados Royals.
After being sent into bat, all Antigua could manage was 145/9. 17-year-old Jewel Andrew (48) continued his good start to the competition but no other batter scored more than 20. Maheesh Theekshana (2/21), Jason Holder (2/24) and Obed McCoy (3/31) did some real damage with the ball in hand.
In response, all the Royals needed was 15.3 overs as they got to target with nine wickets in hand.
The chase was a stroll thanks to Quinton de Kock, who bludgeoned an unbeaten 87 off just 45 balls, smashing nine fours and five sixes.
After five games in CPL 2024, Antigua find themselves rock bottom.
