On August 17 (Saturday), Jofra Archer was yet again in the middle of things in a super over thriller between Southern Brave and Birmingham Phoenix in the Eliminator.
Batting first, Brave could only post 126 runs on board in their allocated 100 deliveries, thanks to James Vince’s 35-ball 43 and a cameo from Chris Jordan (9-ball 20). Adam Milne was the star of the bowlers for the Phoenix, with figures of 3/18 from his full set.
The Phoenix were always behind the eight-ball in the chase, with their score reading 45/3 after 46 balls. However, a sensational innings from Liam Livingstone, who scored a 34-ball 55 (three fours, four sixes), took the Phoenix almost over the line.
But in the end, it was a splendid bowling display from Tymal Mills (3/23) and Jofra Archer (1/29) that took the game down to the super over, where eventually the Brave braved the Phoenix to set up a Lord’s date with the Oval Invincibles, on August 18 (Sunday).
